The conference will address itself to the issues of prime importance to the steel industry in Asian region. It is expected that like auto sector, steel industry will also undergo restructuring and will see many mergers in coming years. This is a global phenomenon and Asia cannot keep away from it. Is this a certainty ? Who will merge with whom ? How will the Asian steel industry look in 2005 ? With WTO guidelines, the import barriers in all countries are gradually going down and the industry is moving towards free trade. 'Anti Dumping Duty' seems to be the only tool remaining to protect the domestic industry. Is this being overused ? How to fight anti dumping case ? Where will the international steel trade reach by 2005 ? Once upon a time, E-commerce was supposed to be best suited for steel industry and it was argued that steel trading can be made simple using NET. Many such trading websites mushroomed all over the world but got little success. Many of these 'Doubtcoms' performed vanishing trick and today only handful of such sites are struggling to survive. Will E-commerce find its way in steel ? Is it something which we cannot avoid ? Will the majority steel trade happen through NET by 2005 ? These and many other prime issues, country profiles, success stories, technology updates will make the event meaningful, informative and thus IMPORTANT. |
